How does it work?

The TM CPC qualification consists of two assessments: a multiple-choice paper (P1) and a case study (P2). Both must be passed to gain the certificate. Both papers run quarterly. The multiple-choice paper runs for two hours and contains sixty questions, with a notional pass mark of forty-two. It tests recall of the regulatory and operational framework passenger transport managers work within. The case study runs for two hours and fifteen minutes. Candidates receive a scenario at the start of the assessment and may bring their own notes and reference materials into the room. It’s a sixty-mark paper with a notional pass mark of thirty, and it tests application of knowledge rather than recall. Once obtained, the TM CPC is a lifetime award. Professional competence does not expire — though it can be affected by specific circumstances, such as certain criminal convictions.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for the qualification. We recommend candidates have English and Maths skills at Level 2 (GCSE) before starting at Level 3. If you’re not sure where your skills sit, contact us and we can arrange an assessment of needs.
