ADR – Refresher

Keep your ADR certificate current.

The ADR Refresher renews an existing ADR Certificate for a further five years. The course follows the same DVSA approved framework as ADR Initial, with Qualifications Scotland-administered exams, and is delivered by individually DVSA-approved instructors.

ADR – Refresher - How does it work?

How does it work?

Refresher training can be taken up to twelve months before the existing certificate expires. We recommend booking at least three months ahead of the expiry date to leave room for retake exams if needed.

Course length depends on the modules a driver already holds and which modules they want to refresh. Successful candidates have their certificate renewed for a further five years.

If a driver fails any module on the refresher, they must sit the full initial course for that module — and they need to do this at least thirty working days before the existing certificate expires.

Plan ahead

ADR Refresher is one of those compliance items where the cost of missing the deadline is operational, not just administrative — drivers without a current ADR can’t carry dangerous goods. Book the refresher early and leave time for retakes.
